AWARD-WINNING WINERIES

If a winery wins a gold medal at a distinguished competition you know that when you purchase or receive that wine, you are getting a top quality selection. Wine Ratings are just important as well. Wines with 85 or better ratings are wines usually produced by a winery and not a wine crush facility. They have their name on the line and are shooting for 90+ ratings. Private labeled wines may win for best label design, but that’s about it. While everyone’s pallets are not the same, you at least know what the experts thought was outstanding.

The history of Napa Valley winemaking goes back to the yearly 1800's. George Calvert Yount was the first to plant Napa Valley grapes in 1839. Charles Krug established the first commercial winery in 1861. The Napa Valley Vintners trade association started in 1944 with 7 members and have over 525 members today.

Napa Valley is known the world over for the quality of wines produced by passionate and devoted winemakers.
